I know this a 2yr old convo, but I have been vbored today, googling this and that, including my grandad, Jos White. He's still alive playing golf, telling jokes (incessently) even mid - serious conversation. So there's one of your 'where are they nows' sort of sorted

I cannot agree with an earlier popster about The Comedians. These lads knew how to time a joke and Jos White was one of the best by the way.
Without doubt the best timer of the lot was Eddie Flanagan. He used to wait and wait until the audience convulsed themselves. Always had a good punch line. Oh for a good laugh nowadays from the current crop of so called `Comedians`.
He is dead and of course Manning, Roper, Williams and Reid have gone too.

Nice to be able to say that I recently spent a very pleasant day two weeks ago with Steve Faye. We were at the Nottingham Ex-boxers annual gala. I guess he is still in Liverpool and still admired there (and very much so here) He is still working when he wants and kept us entertained but privately - he was here as a member not as a performer. People come from ex-boxers associations from all over the UK. Stevie (as we call him) looks very well and smart and turned 80 years old the same week as Ken Dodd. He will only tell clean jokes - Bernard Manning reckoned he was going to be the next pope!! Got to go now and watch "Bugsy" on t/v with the wife. Ah well it had to end sometime. Leslie!!

Some of the old boys I still see regularly. Stan Boardman is alive and well and still shooting fokkers down, Bryn Phillips is still in Wales and does a few celeb golf events (we got really hammered last Thursday). Roy Walker works mostly on cruise ships, as does Douggie Brown. Two good mates, George Roper and Charlie Williams are, alas, in that big comedy club in the sky. I'm sure I know more but I can't think at the moment 'cos I've left a knife in the fork draw and if I don't get home before she does she'll go crackers.
