All I will say on the matter is, when I found the "R" in question it was laying in the dirt on the sidewalk. There are no businesses within blocks of that area that even have an "R" in their name, much less have a sign with one. So as far as I'm concerned, finders keeper and losers......you know the rest.

Whoever it was, they should take more care of their R's!

I've been to Minnesota a few times. We are hoping to go again sometime in the New Year to do some shopping and sightseeing. I would love to go this Fall. But with us needing Passports I don't think we will be able to go that soon.

If you do cross the border, DaleFan, and can make it this far south, maybe you, whoever comes with you, and Renee and I could meet for coffee or drinks or something.

Whilst out for my walk this morning, and coming back past the big mans' clothes shop (which I no longer have to use!) I spotted an ad next to a pair of shoes in the window. Apparently they're a real company, and I realise the spelling is different, but I would have thought twice before naming my shoe company: NUNN BUSH!

Minnesota is a place of diversity. Especially when it comes to our weather. As related countless times here the winters can be brutal with temps in the -20F(-29C) and summers in the high 90sF(30sC). This summer has been a unusual one. The temps for the most part have been only in the 70sF(20C) to maybe 80F(27C). In fact our local newspaper said that it had been 16 years since we hadn't had a 90 degree day in July. This year we hadn't had any 90 degree days. That is until today. The high today was 92F and the next 2 days are forecasted to around the same. Granted that by Sunday it will only be 75 for a high, but where was this weather in July? At least it won't last long. I wish there was a place where the temp would never go above 80F or below 35F, for me that would be paradise.

It's amazing what you see when you're out and about. Some stuff is miles away; other things are, almost literally, right outside your window.......
There's a certain restaurant in town having new canopies put over the windows on its upper floor this afternoon.
The same restaurant had a new exterior kitchen door fitted last week.
The same restaurant now advertises itself as an "Internet Cafe" and says it has access to wi-fi internet for its customers.
Hmmm.............

This one is builder-related (sort of) but funny, in it's way, and also slightly nasty.
Having access to our own toilet at night, we still have to use downstairs during the day. After my first...visit...with the urinal (a story that probably won't get told here!), these days I stand and wait to use the cubicle, even if there's someone in there, and I only need to pee. Anyway, there was. Someone in there. Talking on his mobile phone. While having a visit from Barry. From my side of the wall, it went something like this:
"Oh, yeah, yeah, I can probably start on the eleventh."
"Yeah"
....straining sound.....
"Well, maybe I can start earlier...." rolling sound of toilet paper being pulled from roller.... "if I check the schedule."
"Yeah....." roll, roll, (sorry, this is just what I heard!), wipe wipe...... "that's perfect, alright."
wipe wipe wipe....flush.
"Yeah. I know....." clinking of belt buckle, jingle of change, etc..... "I'm sure I can fit that in. Okay, bye." Click of mobile phone being closed. Final clink of belt buckle. Zip sound.
Then he opened the door, saw me waiting, almost did a double take, and hurried out of the bathroom....without washing his hands.
When I was done as I was walking through the restaurant, I spotted him at his table, on the phone again!

This is not really relevant to Minnesota, as such, but since it involves a facet of our life here - specifically, the move - I thought I'd add it as an oddity. It really is amazing the stuff you find when you clear out stuff.
Bear in mind I haven't lived in the UK for seven years, or my mum's old house for nine years, but, this afternoon, I found front door keys to my mum's old council house in Aspull. I have no idea why I'd have kept them, especially since she died I lived somewhere else in Aspull for 18 months before coming here, but there they are, front door keys, secondary front door keys, AND copies, labeled THE KEY STALL THE GALLERIES WIGAN and EVEN the key to the garden shed! Weird or what?
I also found my Royal Bank of Scotland cashpoint card, my WHSmith ClubCard, my BT Payment card, my British Gas meter card, and my Game Reward Card!
Isn't that nuts?
