Think he's a belting writer... when he works with other people... 'That Peter Kay Thing' and 'Phoenix Nights' are excellent thanks to him, Dave Spikey and Neil Fitzmaurice.
As an actor - he's done some great creations - my favourite being "Leonard" in That Peter Kay Thing.
Brian Potter too - I reckon that's a character worth going in a Hall of Fame... I'd even put him next to Captain Mainwaring - yep, I reckon it IS that good.

Ah.
Well... at first - belting stuff... nothing new, but Comedians-style stuff reinvented for a new audience - fair play to him.
He does irritate the shite out of me now though and appears 'well up his own arse' - and I won't watch him when on chat shows now... he seems arrogant and comes across a bit "everyone loves me... so I can say what the fr*g I want".
I'd like to see him return to well-realised comedy creations that have been well written... but after the DIRE "Max & Paddy" I'm not holding my breath.
Deserves a chance though... he's knocked out some good stuff, so I live in hope.
