Does anyone remember this series from the eighties , taking the micky out of all those working class dramas and "Brideshead revisited" found the series on Amazon a while ago (have to drop hints to Anne to get it for Xmas for me) the brief write up on Amazon says Bradley Hardacre, owner of the brass factory as well as everything else in the town, is the most ruthless of men and enjoys a life of luxury, much to the disgust of Agnes Fairchild. However her plans to overthrow the Hardacre Empire are thwarted by her husband George who is ever the unswervingly loyal employee. Meanwhile to complicate matters further the loves and passions of the Hardacre girls and the Fairchild sons are heating up, with some truly hilarious consequences for everyone concerned. The only bit I remember is Geroge , the dopy loyal employee telling his wife how caring Mr Hardacre was because of the help he gave to a family who had Pneumonia , knowiing that fresh air was good for them he had the roof of their house taken off so they would get plenty , he then says that they all died , but Mr Hardacre HAD tried to help them.

Oh I remember it very well - the one where George 'Don Brennan' is on a Spacehopper - I think he used to test pilot all manner of dangerous stuff for Bradley H - this were kind of a bouncy bomb I think.
And his son were always being mooched after by 'yon poof' who had the teddy bear!
Good series!
