[ORIGINALLY POSTED BY COLUMBO]DUNCAN NORVELLE Remember him on British TV in the 80s? "Chase me" was his catchprase. I wondered - "What's he doing now?" and found out... Have a butchers at this... His catchphrase is copied by hundreds of other Comedians, and Impressionists throughout the United Kingdom, which is no surprise when you just look at the TV shows Duncan has appeared, on a regular basis : The Des O'Connor Show Summertime Special Wogan Bullseye Celebrity Squares The Royal Variety Show Add this to all the regional TV shows and it is easy to see why Duncan is a household name in the UK.
With the swing towards alternative comedy, Duncans appearances on TV became fewer, while his live performances grew in number. For while the alternative comics could perform for 10 minutes on a TV show, many of them have not had the grounding of some of the UK best loved comedians, and struggle to give a twenty minute performance never mind a solid hour plus.
This is why Comedians such as Frank Carson, Bobby Davro, Norman Collier and Duncan Norvelle are still going strong today. It is also why today's TV producers are again looking to these comics for their shows. These are the true funnymen of the UK.
Duncan Norvelle is one of the UK's most sort after Comedians, popular on the Corporate circuit, Cruise Lines, and in the re-emerging club scene in Britain. Duncan can soon be seen on a full UK theatre tour this Autumn and Spring 2002 with Frank Carson, Norman Collier and Jimmy Cricket. This will feature many national TV appearances as well as National Press and Radio as the tour takes in over 80 UK theatres.
His agent also has the following people on the books: Tony Hadley Paul Carrack Victoria Wood Jim Davidson The Human League Alvin Stardust Jamie Cullum Mixed Feelings Cavern Beatles Voulez Vous Kid Creole & The CoconutsSo now ye know what happenened to him! N. Got this today from Tesco's for £1

Fact is, with the exceptions of the deceased like Rod Hull, a lot of these people are probably still around, just that TV was their main outlet. Since most of the crap on the telly these days is 'reality' TV instead of REAL TV there's no demand for them - at least in the eyes of station executives.

“I want to play villains, people do not expect that of me. I would love to play a Bond villain and I want to be the next Dr Who – I’d play the same way that my favourite Jon Pertwee did.” That's the funniest thing I've read in ages!
