Easy. Far too bloody hot in Summer. At least in winter you can alter the temperature up or down inside as you want it. You can't turn the sun down in the summer, and air conditioning only does so much when it's up near 35C! Of course in the winter, it gets down to -12C regularly, and occasionally a LOT colder than that with wind chill etc, but at least that's only outside.

In this part it can get as cold as -45 with the wind chill it can be colder.

Tower set the Minnesota record for coldest temperature on February 2, 1996, when the temperature dropped to -60°F (-51°C). Tower is in the northern part of Minnesota up near the border of Canada. Nearly 300 miles from where I live. I do recall it's gotten down into the low -40sF with wicked wind chills. Luckily that isn't a normal winter, still, January can seem very long.

After reading all the above. It annoys me how mosts Brits complain at the slightest bit of frost! As to this photo, I wonder who she's just smacked with the big shovel. It reminds me of the end of Psycho II

Actually it's a dog in the background and it looks like it's playing in the snow. I had a dog who went nuts in the snow, he would burrow in it with his nose, it was so cute.

After reading all the above. It annoys me how mosts Brits complain at the slightest bit of frost! I agree. You'd be amazed at the number of people back home I've told (my Dad for one) how cold it gets here, and they ask how do people survive - do they go out to work etc in winter? How do they get shopping and so on? I say of course we do. For one thing, people here are FAR more prepared than the Brits, they wear a LOT of layers against the cold, and are bloody careful driving in the snow. I remember first spin I had in the snow, I was slowing down from 40mph to a red light, lost it, and went round 360 before stopping at the light! Scared me a bit! That said, the road plows are usually VERY efficient locally. Of course, today, Indian summer is here! 85F (29C) and lovely and sunny! They say if you don't like the weather in Minnesota, just wait five minutes.

That's what great about Minnesota. If you can carry on a conversation about the weather for at least 5 minutes then you'll get on well with people here. A Minnesotan's motto could be, "When in doubt talk about the weather."

I hate colds, (is there anyone who likes them?) at the first sign of one I grab the zinc lozenges. They may taste awful and leave everything you eat tasting like metal, but they can take a cold from 7 days down to 3, and for me at least that's worth it.

I start drinking Orange Juice like its going out of style. My better half drives the City Bus, and whatever goes around he catches. Luckily I usually don't get sick. Has anyone tried the Cold FX ( I thinks its Called) that Don Cherry promotes?
