If you could, what would you bring back from days gone by? I'd like to bring back... TISWAS The 'Proper' Muppet Show (not that 'Muppets Tonight' shit) Runaround Mr. Bronson in Grange Hill Change a 'Snickers' back to 'Marathon' (it's never been the same) The Pound Note The old 5p coin A few more decent chip shops. Raleigh Burner BMX bike (my best ever bike!) (That's all I can think of for now)

It went:
"Ca-BAANNAA... Ca-BAAA-AAAA-AA-NAAA - daylight come and he won'-a go home" Then it got b*stardised and used for a 'Trio' ad.
Mind you... I let 'em off, because Derek Griffiths used to do one of the voices on the Trio ads.

Derek Griffiths hey, he's another for the 'Whatever Happened to...?'

well how do folks and Im afraid I leap into the nostalgia thingy on a controversial note. Aside from the usual nice things I would like back like:
Catweazle
Worzel Gummage
Magpie
camphorated oil
hot dog stands at top o town
affordaable days out on the train for poorer families
voses pies
mayburys pies
ucp pies
(no wiganer can fail to miss the old really good pie shops)
I would also like to bring back:
strong parental and school discipline - mainly the cane/smacking and proper detentions and teachers able to take control once again in the classroom
proper school rules including standard uniform with no designer owt allowed
Kids to be called pupils until they go to college to be called students
Respect and good manners - this applies to adults as much as kids, including standing up on public transport for them as need the seat most, and saying thank you and youre welcome as we should
a less cushy lifestyle in prisons and proper punnishment - flogging for severe cases, such as murder and rape
the days when neighbours looked out for each other (including disciplining and 'treating' each other's kids)
proper action taken against those found to be wasting police time
height and weight regulations for the police (what good is a six stone four foot ten bobby?)

If you're talking 'Pies', I say bring back the proper Poole's pie, in the days before Mr. Whelan got his hands on 'em and gave them yellow jaunders.
I used to love the mince & onion slapped on a barm joe.

I was sorry to see the chippy get demolished in Millgate. I used to go there as a kid after I'd been to the swimming baths.
'Flat Nose Chippy', we used to call it!

Him who worked in Millgate chippy. He might not have been there all those years ago! Me n' R Darren used to take the p*ss out of him because of how he used to shout "Chips R Ready", then lick dripping fat off his fingers. He won spot the ball twice! (Flat nose, not R Darren!)
