Hi Gary,

Thanks for your email.

I had 15 years of the programme and it was very good to me; HSBC loved it!!!

After almost ten years away from mainstream telly it was quite flattering to see it return. I was by now 68 and deteriorating fast!!!

I think Dave does infinitely better than I did in the first series and no doubt the viewers will enjoy his performance more and more as time goes by. There's no doubt he is a very funny man and a great writer to boot. (Don't forget 'Phoenix Nights).

My association with the show will always be there
but that's because I lived with it for so many years.
I hope Dave gets as much fun out of it as I did. Tony says he's great to work with and they had a lot of fun making the series which bodes well for the future. May it run forever.

The show also has links with another stand up comic......Peter Kay..

I happened to catch an episode of The Comedians on SKY a few weeks ago and I was in hysterics at Jim's routine not only his gags but also his facial expressions.

Jim Bowen must have done something right that has got everybody quoting the show including Peter Kay. Now on the count of 3 repeat after me......1........2........3
