 Dave Allen was an excellent performer, so laid back with his stool and glass of whiskey. He had lots of funny jokes and anecdotes to tell. And to top all that, he came up with some very good comedy sketches. A lot of them upsetting the Catholic community. I remember enjoying the series he did for ITV in 1990. Lots of observational stuff in that, a few years before Peter Kay came along to do similar material! One of Britain's greatest! "Am I the Irish comedian with half a finger? No, I'm the Irish comedian with nine and a half fingers."

My mother absolutely loved this guy. I remember I enjoyed watching his routines on our public television station, but I can't remember a darned thing he said.
