For the most part I love apartment living. There's no grass to mow, no snow to clear and real estate tax is included in rent. There is also suppose to be no upkeep of the building, and that is true we don't have to pay to get things fixed. BUT, that doesn't mean getting something fixed is easy, oh no, no, no, no. Last friday night Paul noticed we didn't have hot water. So he went next door to our neighbor Linda to see if she had any hot water and she didn't. She said that she would let the landlords know in the morning. Saturday morning came and no hot water. Linda was gone for the weekend so we figured that she forgot to tell them. We decided to wait until Monday to talk to them ourselves. On Sunday night when Linda came home and found no hot water she was royally p*ssed. She came over here and was fuming, she had indeed told them on Saturday. So, she called Jon, one of the landlords, and chewed him out. He tried to say that he'd tried to light the pilot light but it kept going out and he wasn't going to call a plumber on the weekend. Apparently she put the fear of God in him because we now have a brand new water heater. We don't quite have hot water yet as it will take some time to heat up, but at least it's fixed. Oh and a side note, when the plumber came to put in the new heater he had to shut the water off, but no one came to tell anyone up here. Nice way to run an apartment building don't you think.
