TV bosses are preparing to bring back two classic kids shows, Worzel Gummidge and Rentaghost.
Programme makers RDF have bought the licences to both shows and plan to revive them for a new audience of youngsters.
Nigel Pickard, director of family entertainment at the company, said: "We feel there is real potential for these classic brands to be reworked for a modern day audience."
Worzel Gummidge - starring Jon Pertwee as the scarecrow and Una Stubbs as Aunt Sally - was adapted from a children's book.
It ran to four series on ITV from 1979 to 1981.
BBC show RentaGhost, which featured a group of ghosts trying to set up their own business in a suburban home, ran for nine years from 1975 to 1984.
Among its cast were Coronation Street star Sue Nicholls (Audrey Roberts) as the permanently sneezing Miss Popov. I think it's best left alone. How could anyone replace Jon Pertwee as Worzel and get away with it. He made that character is own. As for rentaghost, that was of it's time and should also be left alone. They'll be bringing back Jonny Briggs next!

No no no no no ! Leave them alone, !! Jon Pertwee was Worzel Gummidge. Nobody else could do it as well. And who would play the Crowman ? W O Wur R Wur Z Wurzel, R Wur U Wur L Wur S Wurzel. O Wur K Wur Dit ! Wurzel Rules OK ! Rentaghost was another classic that would be best left alone. And please don't suggest to anyone that they should revive Robert's Robots !!!

Still don't remember it. If it's never been repeated though, that would explain it, seeing as it was made the same year as me.

Well, you've all spoiled it for me with your rude coments re: reviving these shows - THANKS FOR NOTHING!!!
?
They were going to re-do 'The Pink Windmill' with Camilla Parker-Charles'Wife to play Rod Hull's role (well, she looks like him).
Patricia Routledge was going to be Grotbags, and I'd been offered the job playing 'Croc' (the producer had seen my youtube vids and said that the word 'Croc' sprang immediately to his mind).
This thread though has sent shockwaves across the www and the series is not to be made!
B*llocks!
Ah well - here's to my live-action version of 'StarFleet' at Morecambe next summer instead.
