I discovered last night thanks to an old telly and an indoor aerial I found that I can recieve the Canadian channel that has Coronation Street. Hardly earth shattering but I might give it a toot this evening.

theres a brilliant new show on bbc 1
its called 3lbs and its fantastic
its like house meets causalty meets er meets grays anatomy
its so cool its based in a nurological center in america similar to the walton center in liverpool but although its a drama they are incredibly acurate with the procedures etc last night they showed a young girl having different bits of her brain stimulated to track down were her speech centers
by the way 3lbs is the weight of the avarage human brain
(took me 3/4 of an hour to remember that)
3lbs – Lost For Words Sunday 11 February 10.50-11.35pm BBC ONE
Stanley Tucci plays brilliant neurosurgeon Dr Doug HansonStanley Tucci (The Devil Wears Prada) stars in a new medical drama about a team of top New York City neurosurgeons who explore the brain – the core of intelligence, the centre of emotion and spirit and the last great medical frontier.
The group is led by Dr Doug Hanson (Tucci), a brilliant neurosurgeon who compares the workings of the brain to wires in a box. Meanwhile, his protégé, Dr Jonathan Seger, feels that in order to operate on someone's brain, he needs to know a little bit about the person first. While Hanson prefers to focus on the intricacies inside people's craniums rather than the people themselves, Seger uses his charm, instinct and intuition to balance the emotional and physiological needs of his patients. These doctors may have opposing points of view on how to treat their patients, but this doesn't get in the way of their shared obsession – the brain – and their growing, sometimes secret, mutual respect for each other's talents and approaches.
In the series opener, a teenage girl, Cassie, collapses while playing violin in a concert. She is diagnosed with a tumour and Dr Hanson wants to operate on the young girl's brain. However, the girl's mother, Roberta, is uneasy about the procedure as she recently lost another daughter during an operation. Meanwhile, Seger arrives: but will he last long under Hanson's tough leadership?
Dr Doug Hanson is played by Stanley Tucci, Dr Jonathan Seger by Mark Feuerstein, Cassie by Madeline Zima and Roberta by Julia Campbell. Indira Varma (Rome) also stars as the beautiful and flirtatious Dr Adrienne Holland and Cynthia Nixon (Miranda from Sex And The City) guest stars as Hanson's ex-wife.

Got 3 films on DVD in a charity shop today - 2 Korean & 1 Japanese Just watched this one... [glow=red,2,300]SPOILERS BELOW[/glow] Yeo-jin and Jae-yeong are two teenage girls who are trying to earn money for a trip to Europe. To reach this end, Jae-yeong is prostituting herself while Yeo-jin acts as her pimp, setting her up with the clients and staying on guard for the police. Things take a turn for the worse when Yeo-jin gets distracted from her duty and the police raid the motel where Jae-yeong is meeting with a client. To avoid getting caught, Jae-yeong jumps out of a window, fatally injuring herself. After Jae-yeong's death, Yeo-jin blames herself and to ease her own conscience, sets to return all of the money they earned to the clients while sleeping with them herself. Eventually Yeo-jin's father, a policeman, is devastated when he discovers what she is doing. He starts following her discreetly and confronts her clients with escalatingly violent results. On the last time, he ends up brutally killing a client. For the rest of its duration, the movie follows the father and daughter on a short trip to the countryside, where they both sense something is wrong with the other, but are unable to confront each other directly. In the end, the law catches up with the father, who hopes to have done enough to prepare Yeo-jin for her life without him. One of those films that you don't fully know why your enjoying it but find yourself glued!
