A bronze statue of George was unveiled yesterday in the Grand Arcade Wigan. I've not seen it yet, but when I do, I'll take a photo (if they let me) and post it on here!  I've finally gotten round to doing this... Here we are....   "Turned out nice again!" |

I've just watched the George Formby DVD collection. The first time I've watched anything of his since I was a kid. I enjoyed 'em too, apart from a few faults with three of the films. One of the was out of sync by about four seconds wich totally ruined the musical numbers, another one cuts off 10 minutes before the end, and a third one is silent for the last 10 minutes!  I'm not sure if the copy I bought was from a faulty batch or that's the only existing copy that's available. There's no mention of this on the packaging. Normally there is when it comes to the vintage stuff. Anyway, I still enjoyed 'em despite the faults. I've even caught on to one of George's forgotten little catchphrases... "Whoopee!" which for some reason has got into my head and I've started using that word myself when something goes right or if Im pleased about something!  |
