I can recommend it. It makes it a heck of a lot easier to view and navigate the forum on a small screen rather than use the full website on the mobile web browser.
There are certain limitations:
It doesn't like opening profile pages. It doesn't show polls or signatures. It won't play YouTube videos in the posts. It shows the original proboards smileys rather than the custom Planet Comedy ones.
And it cost me $2.99

I do have a smart phone but refuse to pay extra costs on my phone when I have a good broadband package at home. So I don't do mobile internet for that reason.

Until recently I had an iPod Touch that I used sort of like a smartphone for apps and games over my home wi fi, but on New Years Day I was gifted an iPhone. I like having all my iPod functions AND my phone in one device. Unfortunately, locally AT&T make me pay for their data plan. $15 per month for the cheapest one. It's not too bad and I have found uses for it, but to avoid accidental overages normally I leave the data plan disabled and use the Internet on my phone over wi fi.
I'm not averse to spending money on an app if I think it's worth it. After all (if I didn't know a bloke who knows a bloke....) I'd pay for computer software. This is kind of the same thing.
