"Hello campers.... Hi-De-Hi"One of the 80's longest running sitcoms. Set in 'Maplin's' holiday camp, based on british holiday camps 'Pontins' & 'Butlins' in the late 50's early 60's. Written by Jimmy Perry & David Croft and ran for 8 series between 1980-1988. It was responsible for helping the careers of the likes of Paul Shane, Jeffrey Holland, Ruth Madoc, Simon Cadell & Su Pollard. I used to enjoy this as a kid for the first few years, mainly because these were the sort of holidays we were having at the time (Butlins & Pontins). The "Hi-De-Hi" catchphrase caught on with everyone there. I nearly bought it on DVD not so long ago, but changed my mind. I didn't think I'd enjoy it the same now as I'm 30 odd. I don't think it stands the test of time somehow.

I still like it.
My favourite though - HAS to be Mr. Partridge - a Punch & Judy man that hates kids - now there IS irony!
;D

Mr. Partridge was good.
I always looked forward to see what fancy dress costume Spike was wearing each week!

Ted was good too - all his devious schemes!
But the best bit of all...
Was when you heard Joe Maplin's letters being read out:
'"Right you lot listen up" it says here... his words not mine, 'thing is this see... I've been getting the word the punters ain't too happy, especially with that fat comedian...." I think that means you, Ted'
;D
