Just watched this, and it made me realise we've never mentioned women comedians on here yet.... But when you watch this, you can realise why! It's Dawn French talking to female 'comedians', a few of which I've never seen before, trying to figure out between them all how they ended up being 'funny'. Most of them though are just comedy actresses and unfunny! It might just be me or is it only women who find women really funny? I admit, I have laughed at the likes of French & Saunders years ago, but is there any you could name as being classic comediennes? Also, it was scary to watch with some of them! Question you must answer A or B to (no witty alternatives!!!) IF YOU HAD TO SHAG EITHER OF THESE TWO WOMEN, WHICH ONE WOULD YOU CHOOSE?A.KATHY BURKE B.JO BRAND ;D Answer that one!!!

Hmm... is it allowed to do 'em "up the Gary Glitter" and pretend it's a chap... just to make it less cringeworthy?
;D
By the way... didn't watch this prog. I HATE Dawn French!

I watched this programme and, as a female, it left me quite downhearted. I love Dawn, I find her hilarious, but you're right in raising the point about there being no woman who you could call a classic comedienne. I think French and Saunders will (and maybe already have?) achieve that status, but generally there just aren't that many funny women.
Mel & Sue irritate me most of all. I feel I should say that.
Caroline Aherne is excellent, Catherine Tate is a funny lady (yes, I know she's very mainstream, but you've got to admire her) and Julia Davis (writer and star of Nighty Night) is wonderful, but I can't really think of any other ladies who are really funny.
I don't think it's just women who find women funny...some men like Catherine Tate, Julia Davis etc....I think the problem is that there just aren't enough comediennes in the limelight for people to find funny. I genuinely think it's harder for women because attractiveness always comes into it (this is undeniable - even I'm guilty of judging women on looks), so...yes. We need more women in comedy in order to discover whether men do have more of a knack for comedy or not.

Firstly, I see none of you have actually answered the question yet! Come on, don't be a wuss, asking silly questions about beer and gay sex, answer it if you dare, go on..... Me?..... er........ kathy burke there ya go, I did it! And it had nothing to do with that nasty picture zygon posted Jo Brand, nude? ? PLEASE NO!!!!!!! I watched this programme and, as a female, it left me quite downhearted. We need more women in comedy in order to discover whether men do have more of a knack for comedy or not. French & Saunders have done some good stuff in the past, but also a lot of cack too! Caroline Aherne, a decent writer and performer of comedy (Mrs. Merton / Royle Family.) Jo Brand is the only decent stand-up out of the lot though. I disagree about the looks though, If a woman is FUNNY, I don't care how ugly she is!

I've never liked Jo Brand to be honest. I know Bernard Manning hates her as well. He says something about the fact she just does jokes about tampons and women's troubles
