This is where I was up to with comedy before Peter Kay came along. Good old Alan, who I'm sure Coogan got the idea from the likes of Richard Madeley & him out of That's Life (Adrian Mills) who's a presenter on one of the travel channels now,

Yep - some good stuff on there - "A-ha!"
Better than his 'Coogan's Run' thing - a good attempt, but unfortunately not that funny.

'Coogan's Run' was his equivalent of 'That Peter Kay Thing' (but nowhere near as good)
The only really decent one on 'Coogan's Run' was the Paul Calf one. Gareth Cheeseman's isn't too bad, but he may has well have used Alan Partridge on it.
But the Ernest Moss, the Curator and the others "BAG O'SHITE"

I've just been watching series 2 of 'I'm Alan Partridge' again.
I forgot about some of the little catchphrases he uses in it...
"Cashback!"
"Back of the Net!"
"Jackanackanory!"
"Mine's a pint"
"Abso-bloody-exactly!"

We've got a series over here on BBC America called Saxon....something or other with the guy that plays Alan Partridge. I've only seen 2 shows and can't say I'm overly impressed. In this series he plays some older, bearded pest control person.

I personally think Coogan has lost his edge now.

I think there's probably still some life in Alan yet though.
Maybe a one-off special. I don't think another series would be a good idea.

Were it not for Chris Morris, Coogan would still be unknown. Coogan is now generally considered the bigger star, but Morris is the man everyone reveres. IMHO.

Coogan had done a bit of telly before 'The Day Today'. I remember a show he appeared in on Granada years ago - 'Stand Up'. I thought Coogan was one of the best acts on there at that time, and showed very good potential for an up and coming comic. So maybe Morris helped him get his foot in the door, but he definately didn't carry him.
