Finally got around to messing with me camera to take actual photos, and this is the one I want to share: It's Big Ole, the 30-foot-tall Viking statue that stands at the north end of town. As you can see, his sheild says "Alexandria, Birthplace of America." If (as I do) you believe the tale of the Kensington Runestone, it says that the vikings landed here, in what became Central Minnesota, in the 14th century years before Columbus. If you want to know more about the runestone, click here.I've seen the stone in person, and I believe it. Either way, Ole is an awesome statue in his own right, and one of our local tourist attractions.

It's funny, but the number of times I've been past that thing, I never made that connection. It's obvious now you've posted the pic of Jeb though.

It's funny, but the number of times I've been past that thing, I never made that connection. It's obvious now you've posted the pic of Jeb though. ;D Hope I haven't spoilt the statue for you by pointing that out!
