This was the view out of my front window at 11:30 this morning. It's currently 3:05pm, and it's just the same. Just one of the joys of a Minnesota winter. Great innit?

So do I, DC, but when there's so much of it they literally plow it, then stack it up feet high at the side of the road, or even, down the middle of the road dividing the lanes, that's a little much.
It ain't snowing right now, but the whole area is still under a winter storm warning until 6pm tonight. It's now 9:50am - and we have to brave going out in it in a bit.

It looks a bit cold there!
Be careful if you're going out in that later.

It ain't really cold by local standards (23F, -5C), just that there's such a lot of snow. We'll manage though, we're used to driving in these conditions. Renee had to drive herself back and forth to work in it yesterday. If we do go out later I'll take the camera and get some shots around town so you can see it...or you can follow the webcam link in General Chat. ;D

More snowy pics, again from my front window, at 10:25am Sunday morning, roughly 24 hours after the first one. SNOW PLOW SPITTING SNOW INTO COLLECTION TRUCKPLOW ALONE - You can see the snow 'banked' in the centre of the road, halfway up it's tires.

I promise not to bore you with any more of these ;D but that in the road there is only a fraction of the snow we got - this will give you an idea of the sheer amount of snow we got in about 24 hours. These were taken from the car park at the back of the building where we live LOOKING WEST - BACK OF APARTMENT BUILDING The building is two stories tall - the air conditioner is on the second level! The doorway up there leads to our apartment. LOOKING EAST FROM THE SAME SPOT The single-storey building behind the snow is the old bowling alley. Look how high the snow is! LOOKING SOUTH FROM THE SAME SPOT Again, the snow is piled almost as high as the shops on 6th Ave! Later this snow will be collected, purified, etc, and put back into the water supply. Finally, here's a shot out of the front window again to show how quickly and efficiently local workers shift this stuff to make it safe to drive. This is from the same location as one of my earlier shots (taken just this morning), note the snowy canopy. Fast, ain't they. I promise no more snowy pics. ;D

It's hard to imagine that the temps will be in the 70s this weekend, isn't it. There is a saying in Minnesota that if you don't like the weather wait 5 minutes and it'll change.
