Gruntfuttock from here asked me to write a review of this year's HarDay. I've just posted this on the Laurel & Hardy forum...
I have to say that this year's Laurel & HarDay was jolly good fun once again.
Neil asked me if I'd write an 'official' review of the day. I agreed, but haven't had time to get it done yet.
In the meantime, here's a few pics from the day...
In fact, I could review as I put the pics on....
We started with the usual task of setting everything up (posters, projector etc...), however I got concerned about the club's electrical system. It looked as if it had been wired up by 'Ray Von', the dodgy electrician from 'PHOENIX NIGHTS'...
Anyway, everything did seem fine enough and so on with the show it was.
Neil showed 'Beau Hunks' to start off the day.
(PROFESSIONAL AT WORK)
This was followed soon with an 'Our Gang' short film featuring special guest star Jean Darling, who was later interviewed by Neil Diamond lookalike David Wyatt!
After the interview, Jean was happy to pose for photographs and sign autographs.
Back by popular demand this year, was 'Soak the Shiek'. A good, fun event which helped raise money towards the statue appeal...
WILLIE McINTYRE
NEIL (who participated after much persuasion!)
After the grand shieks had dried off, it was time for the auction, which raised money for Nancy Wardell's charity.
After another short film (Thicker Than Water), David Wyatt hosted his regular quiz. This year we had to write down the next line of a chosen clip.
We (the Bacon Grabbers team) could have won this again this year, but unfortunately for us, 'Matthew' (regular quiz winner) had turned up again this year to re-claim HIS trophy...
David Wyatt also presented a special video tibute to Happy Harry Ingle, a well known son who died earlier this year. This was a very nice tribute I thought.
The next main of event of the day was the 11th World Kneesy Earsy Nosey championship, which featured 'Emu' as a judge, and also Animal from the Muppets as a competitor...
Finally, it was Emma Graham (2005 champion) who scooped the trophy for her 2nd time.
After a very pleasant day, we ended on the traditional loyal toast...
