I've just had this e-mail from a chap called Mike Hadland.
I remember a scene from one of Stan and Ollie's films where they are stranded somewhere (on a desert island?) with nothing to eat. Stan finds an old tin can of peas with a few peas left. The boys divide the peas evenly, Ollie eats his all at once and then proceeds to talk Stan, who has been preparing with great fanfare to begin eating his share, into splitting his portion again. This pattern repeats itself a couple more times, until finally Ollie has eaten virtually all the peas.
A friend of mine remembers the same scene, but swears it was Abbot and Costello, and NOT Laurel and Hardy.
Can anybody help me out?
Doesn't ring a bell as a L&H film to me?

think way out west was one of their funniest films they made, ollie singing trail of the lonesome pine was class Definately one of their best. Directed by Stan Laurel too! More good sequences... the 'At The Ball' dance, the hole in the lake, Stan gets tickled, Stan eats Ollie's hat! and... LOLA (posing as Mary Roberts):"Tell me 'bout my dear dear Daddy, is it true that he's dead? STAN: Well we hope he is, they buried him! LOLA: Oh it can't be.... What did he die of? STAN: I think he died of a Tuesday!

Academy Award (Oscar) for Best Short Subject (Comedy). There are 131 steps on the flight in Vendome St., Silver Lake, Los Angeles and they are still there. There's a marker post there now, and a plaque embedded in one of the first steps.

I love Laurel & Hardy.
I remember one where they bought a knackered old boat and had to fix it up so they could make profits selling fish - "All the profits go to the fish!"
