I expect most of you know about this, but can't see it on the Forum. Universal recently issued anew 21-DVD boxed set of the entire Laurel and Hardy Roach output - including Hats Off (no, not the film, just stills). Most of the films are in coloured and original b/w versions, some of the foreign-language films are included and there's an "extra" disc (the 21st) with snippets, curiosities and a documentary (can't guarantee the accuracy). Quaity is good, but some of the English-language films have English subtitles, which is irritating, whereas the foreign-language films (French and Spanish) do not have English subtitles. The full retail price is £199.00, but the Laurel and Hardy Magazine, jointly with Amazon, offered the set for £84.99 post free until about a week ago. The current price now seems to be around £120, but there are various prices around, including over £200 (including delivery) at HMV. Each disc has accompanying film notes by Glenn Mitchell. At the right price, it's an unmissable buy for L & H fans. It was released late last year in time for Xmas, but it's really the price that's critical. Anyone interested needs to shop around and perhaps wait for sales or special offers, but it's well worth having.

I suggest you also keep an eye out on 'Amazon' and 'Play', as the price does indeed vary... it was £65 on Amazon before (to all - not just a special offer) but then went back up again in price. I often keep my eye out on this... so I hear of anything I'll let you know. N. P.S. You can also get the individual discs for £5 each on Play... I might think about doing that instead... it IS a pity that you don't get subtitles with the foreign stuff - it peed me off when we got 'Saps At Sea' ("Below Zero" I think?).

The Laurel & Hardy box set! A touchy subject for me! If you decide to collect them separately, you'd have to check the likes of Cash Converters for disc 21 (the bonus disc) That's not available to buy officially. I have seen it once though 2nd hand! Also, check e- bay. Sometimes folk on there sell the actual box it goes in for a couple of quid. (if you wanted that too)

If anyone spots the David Tennant Doctor Who box set cheap anywhere, please let me know.
The cheapest price I can find is £44.99 but I don't want to pay all that, it's not worth full price. Half price or better would suit me!
I've been keeping an eye on some on e-bay. They've been going for anything between 35-40 quid! Still too much to pay!
Thanks!
