A great show brilliantly written by Simon Pegg & Jessica Stevenson (as she was at the time).
Tim Bisley (Pegg) and Daisy Steiner (Stevenson) can't find anywhere to live so pretend to be a couple in order to rent a flat in London. Their Landlady is Marsha (Julia Deakin) and the other tennant is Brian (Mark Heap), an eccentric artist.
Tim's best mate is Mike (Nick Frost), he wants to be in the army but can't for reasons that don't get explained till the end of series 1. Daisy's best mate is Twist (Katy Carmichael), a completely shallow so-called 'fashion expert' who actually works in a dry cleaners.
Tim is a comic book artist that can't get published, so he works in a sci-fi shop ran by Bilbo (Bill Bailey) and Daisy is a freelance writer who's basically on the dole.
This show was great fun to watch - not just because of the characters/stories but the huge amount of refernces to pop culture made watching it a game of spot-the-homage! There are refences in there to Star Wars, Dr Who, Terminator, Bugsy Malone, Resident Evil, Matix......... too many to list & I'd spoil your fun....
