Good stuff - a plan eh? Sounds like a plan to me! As I said - less "Woe Is Me" and more "Fr*gging hell, no-one is going to do this for me... I WILL get stuck in and try my best - no one could do more!" Positivity dear fellow - you KNOW it makes sense! N. Done what Tutor wanted me to do before tommorow...not sure it's right...but Still I did it!

Here's me (in case you thought it was someone else) - aching like FOOK after a 'mad do' at the gym yesterday. About to take the doggies out before a trip to Winwick for a training day - "De-Escalation" - about 'calming down' and preventing aggressions etc. - I'm getting angry just thinking about the drive there!!! Also - me 'scope has jst been dispatched I believe - so that may 'land' soon! N.

Just had a couple of days off. I recieved some belated birthday money, so Renee and I went out for lunch yesterday and did a little shopping.
Right now, it's peeing down, and I REALLY mean peeing down. It's just after 10am, and it looks like twilight outside.

Today'll be work in a bit... after I've taken the doggies out - once returned, another dog walk plus a visit to the gym. I'm going to come back home at dinner though... one of my visits isn't too far away, so I can come back and have my break at home - so that'll be good. Also... here's what else has occurred/is occurring: * Yesterday our membership pack for The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) arrived... so now we're 'official' - belting! * Tomorrow - I'm off up to Penningotn Flash to test out my 'scope. * Sunday - will be going birdwatching with my brother-in-law - he's been into it for years - ee, I dropped on there arranging to mary the sister of a birdwatcher eh - there's good fortune! Somewhere in there I may fit in a bit of telly watching - I'll see how I'm fixed! N.

Went to Martin Mere yesterday morning with my Brother-In-Law,his wife and daughter... me and him went mooching to the hides, whilst they went off looking at duckies etc. Anyhow - thought it was an absolutely corking morning... saw the following breeds by looking though various hides... Black-tailed Godwit Oystercatcher Lapwing Shelduck Little Grebe Little Egret Green Sandpiper Grey Heron Avocet Buzzard Kestrel Sparrowhawk Blue Tit Great Tit Greenfinch Goldfinch Tree Sparrow PheasantThe second biggest highlight for me being the Avocet... there were five altogether, and seeing them sifting through the shallow water with their weird-looking upturned beaks was great - I'm really glad I brought the 'scope with me too - seeing all these birds in close-up is better than ANY documentary! Anyhow - bit of info. re: the Avocet I though I'd share: "A distinctively-patterned black and white wader with a long up-curved beak. It is the emblem of the RSPB and symbolises the bird protection movement in the UK more than any other species. Its return in the 1940s and subsequent increase in numbers represents one of the most successful conservation and protection projects."[/i] The highlight? On the way back from the hides... a Blackbird quite happily snoozing in the sun, looking totally relaxed - that raised a smile... what I'm really glad about is the fact that seeing this 'common' bird is my favourite part of the day... you can see them practically anywhere, and they're far from 'rare' - but that certainly does not make them any less special. So although I'm more than happy to add to my 'bird list' any new birds I've seen - I'm not just 'collecting' them - I'm chuffed to keep seeing the old favourites - and that to me is what makes this such a great hobby! Anyhow... not content with going to Martin Mere in the morning, I decided to take a trip with the dogs to the beach at Southport after tea... and took the binoculars 'just in case' - glad I did because I saw the following: Lesser Black-backed Gull Black-headed Gull Oystercatcher Goldfinch Meadow PipitNot a bad day all round really! Cleaned the living room yesterday, and I've been watching me Incredible Hulk DVDs and me Spaceballs DVD. And, I'm eagerly waiting for a new webcam from Logitech. A couple of weeks ago, messing around with it, as you do, I dropped it, and since then a black mark has appeared on all photos and video I take. Naturally, I'd lost the receipt, so I couldn't return it. I rang Logitech and after lots of back and forth, they decided I was telling the truth and agreed to send a replacement. A week went by, and nothing, not even the promised email to say they'd shipped it. I ring them again, and they say the camera they planned to ship is not in stock - so, since I'm clearly not happy, will I accept a different, slightly better camera? Naturally. I say yes. That was on Thursday. I got emails yesterday, from both Logitech and DHL, to say my new camera has shipped and I should receive it on Friday.

Well, I was on strike yesterday.... not by choice. I'd rather have been in work - can't really afford to loose a day's pay!
Still, back in work today....

the IT dept obviously stayed out on strike, as the Internet crashed earlier & no-one was around to fix it! I was quite happily catching up on here, merrily posting, when it froze...... and that was my lot.... bye bye Internet!

Just got back from the 'Wigan Flashes' (local water reserves) where I've been for a walk with my dogs...
Coincidentally(!) I just 'happened' to have my binoculars with me... got some got practice in 'binocular steering' and focussing by watching various birds swooping and diving... namely House Martins, Common Terns and Swifts - excellent stuff!
Also, saw loads of Great Crested Grebe and Tufted Ducks - and of course a good walk had by all.
Now all I need is my new camera to come a.s.a.p. and then I can start snapping away!
