We're lucky to have any of this, let alone this great stuff. Melies was one of the first great cine geniuses, but when he closed his studios in 1914 he ordered every centimetre of film to be destroyed, to recover the silver. He made over 500 films, so there were probably some spares lying around, and some far-sighted soul obviously spirited a good number away. Melies' great grand-daughter or some such relationship, has said there are more to be released and there could be a new DVD this year.

Cheers Larffalot - I'd love to see that! Always liked his stuff - a shame that so much got lost! Hope the DVD does happen though, I'll have that like a shot! N.

That's the one! Do you know if it's multi-region, as I only have a Region 2 player. This was released in the States and may therefore be Region 1. I've ordered a copy from Amazon, but they don't give any information regarding Regions. If it won't play on my player I'll have to try it in soemone else's.

Just got my copy out and had a look for you. Doesn't have a Region Code ANYWHERE on the box... but it does say on the disk 'NTSC' - which means it could be Region 1 - it may be multiregion, but they usually put that on... so I can't say. Just out of interest - let me know the make, model and serial no. of your DVD player - I might be able to get you info on how to make it Multiregion and then you can play ANY... I've done it for a few machines without hassle - let me know. N.
