I’ve mentioned before my eccentric customer who regularly brings gifts to the shop. I thought I’d share some of them with you. He is a lovely old guy and while I don’t wish to sound ungrateful, some of the gifts are a little unusual. Today’s gift is: Use by October 2009 !

I suppose if you were short of food, snowed in and couldn't get to Tesco, and wouldn't mind the likely visit from Barry the following day....
....I mean, food in cans is supposed to keep well.....
Hehehe.

Today's gift is : Only a couple of weeks out of date but I risked one and it was rather nice. Haven't seen them for years and didn't think they were still made.

So, only a couple of weeks out of date - any tummy problems since?!

No visits from Barry! ;D
Not a great believer in best before dates on things like this. They are so full of preservatives and other unhealthy things that they would probably last for ever !

Renee tells me, working as she does in the foodservice industry these days (sort of!) that those dates are usually off by a little while deliberately, to guarantee it's still perfect on the expiry date.
And I haven't seen one of those Tuc biscuits for YEARS!

So, chicken for dinner then?
I mean no disrespect to your customer at all, but if that was out of date, I wouldn't even risk it.
We bought some poultry once that was still apparently in date, but when we opened the bag......
Anyway. Enjoy your dinner!

Gee thanks. ;D
He bought one for my driver (work, not personal chauffeur) and his (driver's) wife had just bought one, so if he eats both and doesn't get ill, I'll know that it's okay. Have put it in the freezer until next weekend. There's no way I'd even consider out of date chicken !

In the dark days of the absence of Planet Comedy, the gifts have continued. Among the more unusual were a bread bin (which I keep bird seed, peanuts etc in.) And a blue coat (for the girls, not me) which apparently is quite trendy. Today's gift was : I shall have (some of) them for my tea tonight.

Not sure I can eat 6 sausage rolls. Had a couple, and chicken soup at lunchtime sounds warming.

I need to start taking pics of the presents that get left on my desk! Last week it was 6 packs of microwave popcorn. (I don't get healthy gifts of fruit!)
