Just bought the 1st two series of this off play.com's sale. I've never seen much of them before. To be honest, they aren't too bad. (just finished 1st series). It's interesting to see the characters developing into who we know in the feature films. Blakey is known only as 'The Inspector' until episode 5, Jack's a complete and utter b*stard with Stan. Laying down all his 'shop-steward' rules at him and nicking all his birds! Stan has a different mum (Cicely Courtneidge) There's a mention of Arthur's 'operation', but we don't learn what he's had done. As for Olive, she's still ugly!

I loved On The Buses as a kid, but it just looks really rushed and dated these days. How many times does Reg Varny fluff his lines?

I loved On The Buses as a kid, but it just looks really rushed and dated these days. How many times does Reg Varny fluff his lines? Quite a few times...In fact they all do! I don't really mind too much. It shows how they made the shows in those days. I'm enjoying them just to see what stuff they re-used in the films, like tying Arfur's bike+sidecar to the back of the bus sequence, Olive working in the staff kitchen. Stuff like that. And I've picked up on arfur's catchphrase... "Wotta lotta rot you tawk!"

Was it Dennis?
I can't recall now.
And all them busters being pushed in John Alderton's face too... oh, very un-PC!
My fave had to be "Potter - King Of the Loo" - the classic character played by Derek Guyler... same character as he did in everything else though lol, that man surely was uni-talented!
;D

Just finished the first two series! Enjoyed 'em n'all! Classic scene on the last episode of series 2 (Bon Voyage) Jack has a (early) polaroid camera, and offers to take a photo of Blakey, so that Blakey can send it to his mum. Stan & Jack take the p*ss and get him to stand next to a billboard on the side of Stan's bus... BLAKEY: That's not me, is it? STAN: Must be... It says so on the side!

I think I've got the full seven series complete (I might possibly missing one or two eps), but some of them are pretty crap quality stuff recorded off Sky years ago. Still good fun, though, mostly because the attitudes seem to appalling now. Especially Jack. Birds! Corrr! Etc ;D
The one off Please Sir who looked (and probably was) at least twice as old as he was meant to be was Peter Cleall (can't remember his character's name off the top of me head). The gobby bugger who was cock of the class.

A bit of on the buses trivia for you... It wasn't until Series 4, episode 9 - 'COVER UP' that Blakey did his proper, more well known laugh... You know the one... "aaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy..... oh Gawd!"Before that, it was more of an asthmatic laugh! So now you know.
