Here's a quick tale from today.... Had to work the 'day' shift today because I'm out tonight. (another story) Started at 7. Did my 1st job, then had a slight breakdown (not an emotional one BTW). Nipped home, sorted out the problem, went back to work, waited quite a while for my next jobs. 2 of which, were 'no jobs' (Nobody there!) Not good, considering I only actually earn money if I have passengers.... Eventually I picked up a young girl and her kid. The kid was sick all over my back seat. He couldn't help it, but it's me who has to clean it. Nipped home to clean up and decided to call it a day.

I'm off to renew my taxi licence later. When I get it, this will be my 15th yearly one. And to think, I only started doing taxi driving because I'd been on the dole for a few months. I thought this job would put me on for a while... That was 1994

How's this for peculiar... I changed a brake light bulb the other day. A very simple task which I've done many times. Not this time though. After doing so, I noticed that when I pressed my brake, my front lights came on too. Sort of confused, I continued my night and switched on the front lights anyway. Cured? No... A bit later, I noticed that all my brake lights were on permanantly. Not good. Now folk won't know if I'm really stopping or not! The only solution on that particular night was to just take out the bulb. I had one back light out then which is slightly illegal. But it was either do that or risk losing the rest of the night's takings & maybe cause an accident. I took out the bulb and all worked fine again. Anyway, the next day I got a little advice off a friend of mine. Apparantly I'd put the wrong type of bulb in which had casued it all to f*ck up! I had a spare bulb which was the right one and all was fixed. Good news, because I'd almost gone to replace a part which I thought had broke. D'oh!

I had to do something similar about ten years ago working at a garage.
That was to do with customers using toilets, and frozen pipes etc.
Funnily enough, I resigned a few weeks after that.
