Picture: David Threlfall as Frank Gallagher in a 'spoof thingie' for you to laugh at!Now this is worth watching... yet I've only cottoned on to it late on! A friend lent me the first two series the other week and I've gone through 'em like a fat lad goes through a dairylea tub when he's been bullied (and without spoon - fingers only!) and feels that food's his only comfort. Now up to series four which has just finished on Channel 4... although I'll soon be starting on series 3, so again I'm playing 'catch up'. So what's it about then? Some info from series one... Blisteringly funny, offbeat drama following the rollercoaster lives and loves of an anarchic family from Manchester. Meet the Gallaghers. Mum went AWOL years ago, Dad stayed at home with the six children only to hit the bottle. And sometimes the kids... The real head of the family is big sister Fiona (20), who looks after Carl (11), Debbie (9) and baby Liam (3). She is occasionally helped, more often hindered, by reluctant virgin 'Lip' (16) and the actively gay, but very private, Ian (15).
Welcome to a hectic world of sexual adventures, triumphs, love, scams and a fair bit of crime on a rough Manchester housing estate, where wheel-less cars are the norm and the moving ones are stolen. More Info hereAnyroad... here's a compilation clip that features some sweary words... pretty funny are the one's by Marty (who has Tourette's) and... well, have a look! Click ThisN.

My sister and brother in law watch this. They've told me how good it is, but they said it's one of those that you have to see from the beginning to know what it's about.
I've only ever caught bits of it. It does look alreet though.

I saw most of season one on BBC America and loved it. Typically though, it's never surfaced again since. BBCA would rather fill their schedule with old repeats of Benny Hill. I'm rapidly losing hope for season 2 of Life on Mars as well....ah well, there's always hope.

My sister and brother in law watch this. You can do us a MASSIVE favour wi' any luck... ask 'em if they've got series 4 recorded off the telly, and if so any chance of me getting a copy - naturally I'll do a 'bung'... they've had 'dodgy ones' on eBay, but none at the moment... I'd DEF. like 'em, because as soon as me box set comes I'll ve ploughing straight through Series 3 - it's a corking show!!! ;D N. P.S. Paul - what do the Yanks make of this?

As I said, season 1 was shown, then dropped, and we've never heard of it again since. But then again, BBC America do that with a lot of shows that as a Brit I think are good, but that wouldn't necessarily go across well in America, especially this because it's very region specific to our part of the world, so I got it, but Renee didn't. BBCA does have a niche audience for this sort of stuff, but unless they get (by their standards) stellar ratings stuff appears then goes. Case in point: In the last year we've had (with no mention of follow ups:) Bad Girls (dropped partway through series 2) Shameless (dropped at the end of season 1) Life on Mars (I HOPE THEY BRING THIS ONE BACK) Waterloo Road (No mention of Season 2) Bad Lad's Army (No mention of Season 2) The only show from this category they play incessantly is Footballer's Wives - the rest have probably gone for good. We did get Seasons 1 and 2 of Doctor Who, and will probably get 3 as well - but that BBC show is NOT ON BBC America at first - it's on Sci Fi Channel. I have just about given up on BBC America and am considering buying DVDs from the UK instead, money permitting. OK, rant over.

Watched shameless from the start, brilliant, imho latest series not as good but good. The writer of this series has brought out a new one. Skins, it has been on a few weeks now, based really on a younger generation. You can still see the, "shock value" in it as in shameless but not as funny Imh.

Here's some quotes from it:
Frank Gallagher: [to a fish] Now you know what I feel like... Stop whinging! Drink more.
Frank Gallagher: I had to wait 4 hours at A & E 'cause of someone queue hopping! Who cares if he was shot? He shot HIMSELF. Some people are so selfish.
Frank Gallagher: Word from the wise: get your stuff out quick sharp, otherwise he'll have your stereo in his veins before you can say Dolby surround sound.
Kev: [it's the early hours of the morning and Frank has turned the radio up full blast] Do you know what time it is? Steve: Yeah, sorry it's Frank. Kev: [Kev barges in] What have I told you? Steve: Oi! Oi! Frank Gallagher: Oh, here we are neighbours of Satan. Kev: The day you pay rent, Frank, like some of us you can play whatever sh*t you want, but until then if you're pumping it this time of night you play stuff that we like.
Frank Gallagher: We've just kicked a confession out of ice cream Alec, he's admitted to dipping his nob in the tubs. Sheila Jackson: What, he took little Jody! Frank Gallagher: We don't know till he comes out of theatre!
Frank Gallagher: Is he still here? Fiona Gallagher: Steve, no he's nipped home to get changed. Frank Gallagher: Well, tell him not too bother coming back. Fiona Gallagher: Dad, he just spent 500 quid bailing you out. Frank Gallagher: And why would he do that, eh? When I woke up in France in the middle of a park looking like a f*cking dosser, all I could smell was orange air freshener, middle of a park, orange freshener. I've just spent five hours in the back of his car same? f*cking? smell! He did this.
Frank Gallagher: You hit me in the face with a pan of f*cking porridge! Monica Gallagher: And you hit me back! Frank Gallagher: So, Queensbury rules. You broke me nose and two front teeth, up to Casualty looking like Ann f*cking Widdecombe. You started it, you mad bitch!
Frank Gallagher: "Where's your Mama gone? Where's your Mama gone?" Used to sing that to the kids when Monica f*cked off, never a dry eye in the house, all shot off upstairs howling they did.
Carol: [Debbie has accidentally burnt Carl's anus while they were lighting f*rts] You're lucky the house didn't go up, rubbish he eats.
Hippy Pete: If that cat walks past me one more time with its tail in the air, it is getting one right up the ring because I am ten w*nks beyond fussy!
;D
