I miss proper English fish and chips.... We had chili on Wednesday night with cornbread. Yesterday I really didn't eat much, and today, using the leftover beans from cooking the chili I cooked them, and some polenta, not usually available here, but the cheap shop occasionally has weird stuff. I blended the beans and the polenta. It sort of worked. What I ended up with is beans and corn-grit-mush(!). Not terrible, but not at the top of any gourmet menus that's for sure! Still, I was just 'playing' with leftovers.

I've got a great big thick slice of granary bread that Mrs L brought home tonight.
With butter.
And a glass or two of cabernet.

We had fried chicken yesterday, sort of a celebratory tradition for us.

Lettuceburgers - basically, hamburgers with cheese, sans a bun, using large lettuce leaves to wrap the burger instead.
As I do most Janurarys and Februarys these days, I try to be 'super-sensible', diabetes-wise, and this is the best way to cut out all the carbohydrates and still eat something that tastes good. Plus, cooking the burgers on the George Forman gets rid of all the fat too.

I had homemade lasagna.. It turned out pretty good I must say. And in a few minutes I am off to put on a pot of coffee.

We just had chili, homemade as usual, with the extra additions of salsa, sour cream, and tortilla chips, since we're not making nachos any more.
It was damn good too, and most of it is still in the pot, waiting for us to eat it later.
I'm trying to leave it for now. I wonder how long my will power will last.

Sounds great, except for the beets. I can't stand beets.
