Got really bored at work today so made myself a box out of some scrap oak. Going to put £2 coins in it and when it's full we'll have a little treat. First one's just gone in. I reckon it will hold about £400, so it may take a few years to fill up !!!

Went to see Wigan play at the DW stadium on Sat! We'd won tickets thru Barclays so off we went. Actually, really enjoyed it..... got over-excited when Wigan scored and taunted the Sunderland fans! ;D Would go again, if I can win some more tickets..... can't afford £40!!

Forgot to tell you about the random thing that happened to me on Fri night.... We were having a night out in Wigan. Towards the end of the night we went to Chicago & found an empty table near the dance floor. Not long after we arrived the rather drunk lady on the table next to us (who had already abandoned her shoes) came over to our table, announced that she needed a wee, put her handbag around my neck, gave me a big kiss & stumbled onto the dance floor! ;D Very random indeed. I can't decide if she did this because: a) I have a trust-worthy face b) She was too drunk to know what she was doing, or c) Someone else had already dumped the bag on her & she was trying to get rid of it! I love Wiganers!

Maybe she just fancied you! Anyway.... I've been signing up to, er, help the community by, er, doing a little service for them. (I hate my old landlords, but anyway....) Between now and Christmas Eve I'm going to be working with the Salvation Army ringing bells and collecting donations at their local outpost at K-Mart, which is only a hop skip and jump from where we live which makes it really convenient. I did my first shift last night, and aside from a brief concern about tinnitus, I have to say, I really enjoyed it. It was wonderful to see such generous people giving donations, and aside from my, er, county obligation, it felt GREAT to be doing something worthwhile for my community, so much so that I've already taken all the hours I need, and have decided next year I'll go back and do it again. In other fun stuff, I've been getting into podcasting. Listening, not actually making a podcast. Mooching around the iTunes store (something I never did before buying the iPod, mistakenly believing you needed an iPod to use the stuff you get from the iTunes store) I typed 'DC Comics' into the search bar, and amongst other things it came up with a podcast, done by two friends who discuss in a humourous way a whole heck of a lot of Superman comics from the past twenty years, month by month. Sort of like a DVD commentary, but for comics. Since I have almost all those comics, I decided to download it and give it a go. Granted, they're about as nerdy as I am (one reason I like it!) but they know their stuff. There have been 28 podcasts so far, and having found it late, I've been filling all my free time with it, and I'm about four away from catching up to the new casts when they upload them. And (no one will get this) I truly think we need a Happy Clown EMP Company in the real world.

You're right, I don't get it. Googled it so that I would maybe have some idea of what you were talking about and came up with nothing, so am still none the wiser. Been helping my friend with her finances again. Gave her a stiff..................talking too about getting another job (she does bar work and there's lots of opportunities at this time of year) and sorted out getting her connected to broadband as her boyfriend is buying her a laptop for Christmas (incidentally getting £50 cashback from BT). Mrs L is going to sort out her swapping gas/electricity next week as Scottish Power are giving £110 cashback. Going to change to BT myself for broadband and swap back for my phone contract as I can get £75. They are also doing a credit card which gives £40 off the BT bill. This will save me £10 a month over the next year. Gotta love Quidco, it's money for nothing. TANSTAAFL ? Says who ?

Okay.... My inner nerd is going to show, but...
I've started listening to a podcast. The two hosts made a comment about electromagnetic pulses, and how the host of a kids' show had managed to get one, or the means to generate one (in the fictional universe they were discussing) apparently from one of the sponsors of his show, which of course is completely unrealistic. They latched onto this, and as a result started referring to it as the Happy Clown EMP Company. Since then they start each episode of the podcast with a 'sponsor message' saying "This episode is brought to you by the Happy Clown EMP Company," etc etc.
I just thought it was amusing.

Ah, that explains it (sort of). Been trying to work out the acronym EMP, and now I know. Now why didn't I think of that one ? Guess my brain must be too highly trained. B.S. I bet I could out-nerd you on L & H !! ;D

I know, but I meant the level of nerdiness one applies to one's own particular field of anorakism. ;D

There's very little I could out-nerd anyone on.... I just don't remember facts! Anyhoo... Not been around much, was pretty ill last week & only spent a little time online.... couldn't stand to look at the screen for long! I'm better now, but not before I passed it on to KK So he may not be on much... Friday was my Grandad's funeral... Then on Sat we went & had a look at a couple of houses in Wigan, one of which might be good for us..... Sunday was spent doing a bit of shopping but not out for long as Stephen really went downhill very fast..... poor fella. So, eventful old week!

Glad to hear you're feeling better and that the house situation is looking up. Very generous of you to share your bugs with the Kitten. Tell him we're thinking of him.

Decorated my Mum's Christmas tree last night and indulged in a glass of Sherry..... in an attempt to get into the spirit of the season (no pun intended!)
