Glad to hear the car's better! I hate it when they go wrong....money, money, money etc.... I've been Duck Racing this weekend! Rubber ducks that is. All in the name of charity! It was a great laugh, but you can't help wondering - is it natural to stand on a muddy bank by a stream outside a pub in the freezing cold shouting "Come on, Superduck!" at an inanimate object? ;D Ok, exactly what is duck racing? Do you have pictures of this so called race? And who won? I just gotta know!

Well, obviously the suspense is killing you It's great fun! You pay £1.50 for a duck (for local charities) and decorate it anyway you want. Some of them were really good & there was a competition for the best dressed duck (which I didn't even bother entering) They release the ducks 6 at a time down this tiny stream & the first 2 go through to the next round etc. Here's a pic of my duck coming 3rd : It's amazing how carried away people get trying to encourage a piece of plastic in a race! It was freezing out so we didn't stick around to see if the winner got anything....

I dunno, maybe.
When I first came out here people would actually want to hear me talk, no matter where we were - waiting in the doctors, or paying for groceries as the checkout. Apparently the British accent (including my Welsh Wigan accent) is fascinating to the Americans.
It does still happen sometimes, though not nearly as much as it used to. And in fact, my accent is not as English-sounding as it was. I've picked up a few Americanisms.

That's bound to happen...
My accent's a bit of a mix, depending on who I'm talking to! I'm originally a southerner so there's a twang there every now and then + the local accent round here has a hint of Liverpudlian and now, thanks to this forum, I find my self saying the occassional really Northern stuff!
Sithee Later!

Nowt wrong wi' speykin' like a Northerner. I have to admit, when I really want to confuse someone for the heck of it (like a telesales person), I slip into full-on Wigan mode. I've recently got back into watching Coronation Street (yes, I am that sad) on the Canadian channel that gets broadcast this far south of the border, and I have to say, it's great to hear 'local' accents again on a regular basis. Then of course there's my 'Dagummit Dumb Southerner' voice as well, but that's a whole 'nother story.

A lot of my recent activity has involved swearing at PC's! Flaming BBC's i-player has caused my pc to crash so many times I give up with it!

I'm having a very lazy day..... catching up on the tv I've missed recently & painting my nails - something I've not had time for recently. Feels quite nice to pamper myself for a bit!

I have the rest of the afternoon to myself, so I'm having a little chill at the Planet, then I may go and watch some truck racing, plus of course later there's Torchwood.
Later I have to make some chicken soup, but, enjoying cooking as I do, I don't consider that a chore. Why? Well, Renee starts work early tomorrow, so we want something quick and easy for dinner tomorrow. So I make the soup tonight then tomorrow just reheat it on the stove or bung it in the microwave.

I've not been on here for over a week! Not really had time. I've been finishing off the housey type stuff, which included decorating the hall, stairs & landing, painting inside the porch, put laminate floor down in two bedrooms, replaced a few loose floorboards. (I hate sqeaky floors!), also put up a self assemble triple cupboard to store my DVD's and nipped to the tip with some cardboard and various other bits of shite! Also went to work at night (for a rest!) Also (again), I had an accident with my mobile phone last week. I dropped it down some steps and it no longer works, so had to borrow money off myself to buy another. (For those who have my number) I still have same number but have lost most of my contact numbers, as they were stored in my other phone's memory, so (for those of you it concerns), please txt me your numbers again if you would.

What episode of Torchwood was it? The one with the travelling show (the one after Gwen's wedding). Apparently, according to BBC America, there are only three new episodes of season 2 left.
